The Turkish side is willing to take part in a process of privatization of Ukraine’s energy assets, including state-owned coal mines, according to the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine. The ministry reports that Turkey informed the Ukrainian side about its intentions during a visit to Turkey of minister Volodymyr Demchyshyn as part of the official delegation on March 9: “The Turkish side expressed interest in participating in the privatization of energy assets in Ukraine, in particular, the coal mines.” As it was earlier reported, in the summer of 2015, the Cabinet decided to liquidate Rodynska mine of Krasnoarmiyskugol state enterprise (Donetsk region), Zarichna mine of Lvivugol SOE (Lviv region), and mine No.9 Novovolynska of Volynugol SOE (Volyn region). Over hthe year, the government has not supported state-owned mines, planning to completely reform the industry by closing up more than 10 companies and putting the remaining 24 mines for privatization.
