Banana Republic Ukraine Will Not Be Accepted Into The EU And NATO

This statement was made yesterday by European Commission President, Jean-Claude Juncker, during a speech at The Hague. “Ukraine will, without a doubt, not be able to join the EU in the next 20-25 years, and the same applies to NATO membership”, he said.

~ The EU takes a rational approach
According to Juncker, the EU needs to take a long break before taking any new member states. But this does not apply to the Balkan countries, with which the EU is already negotiating for membership. Because in the Netherlands, on April 6th, a referendum will be held on the ratification of the Hague Agreement on the association with Ukraine, there will be a clear understanding promoted by the EU that this agreement does not in fact mean membership in the EU.

~ The UN criticizes Kiev
At the same time, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) has demanded that the Government of Ukraine carry out an investigation into the human rights violations that took place during the blockade of the Crimea. In a document published on its website on Thursday, March 3rd, it said that it was necessary “to investigate all allegations of human rights violations committed during the ‘civil blockade’ on the administrative border between mainland Ukraine and Crimea, and to arrest suspects.” This means an inevitable conflict with the various political groups in Ukraine, because Mejlis of the Crimean Tatars and the neo-Nazi organization “Right sector” took responsibility for the blockade.

~ The problem of corruption and legality in Ukraine
Meanwhile, the question of the competency of the incumbent authorities of Ukraine are increasingly raised by the community of experts and academics in Europe.

The other day, the German Institute of International Affairs and Security released a report which stated that the reform process in Ukraine has been delayed due to a large number of internal and external circumstances. Especially significant are obstacles faced in establishing a state based on the rule of law. There is no progress in those areas where there is a legal vacuum, as these are in the interests of influential political and economic actors, as such areas contribute to their personal enrichment and allow them to preserve their power.

~ Differences in the approach to Ukraine
While in Europe there is beginning to be a deeper and clearer understanding of the origins of the conflict, and the inability of the Ukrainian government in Kiev to solve ongoing problems, the United States continues to actively intervene in the affairs of Ukraine to ensure its own interests. The US’s interventions almost always go against the interests of both Ukraine and the EU. For Washington it is advantageous to carry out its plan to further split Ukrainian society, and strengthen the presence of US companies in the country. At the same time, the United States continues to demonize Russia, and pushes European countries to take anti-Russian measures. Barack Obama’s renewal of sanctions against Russia for another year shows that the United States is determined on its course of further confrontation and increased chaos in the middle of Europe.
